Books About NYC and Beyond!

My students need a collection of high quality books about geography and mapping! This year in 2nd grade we are focused on learning more about New York City and the world beyond!

My Students

My school is an all girls school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Though the school is on the Lower East Side, my students hail from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and even NJ. Most students are living in low-income housing projects and receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them travel over an hour to attend a quality public school in New York City.

My students come to school each day eager to learn in a loving, safe, and exciting environment.

They strive to show our school's core values of Sisterhood, Responsibility, Merit, and Scholarship, and it is our hope that we are preparing them to move onto middle-school, high school, and eventually graduate from college!

My Project

My students need a collection of high quality books about the city they live in and the world beyond their neighborhoods. Unfortunately, my classroom library does not meet the needs of my unit and very excited bookworms. In order to give my students the best instruction possible and access to a whole new world, we must give them the best material!

Your donation would be opening the eyes of 25 incredible girls, not only to their very own city and community, but to the enormous and often unimaginable world beyond their city blocks.

This collection of books would be a treasured part of our classroom library! Thank you in advance for giving my students an opportunity to see the world!
