This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves children from kindergarten through eighth grade. About 92% of the students in the school live at or below the poverty line. We are a full-service, inclusion school which means we teach all students with behavioral, social-emotional​, or learning needs. My students work hard and are excited to learn.

Every day the morning announcements end with "What can you do today to make our school more kind, caring, and inclusive?"

My classroom consists of 20 students. Seven of my students have Individual Education Plans (IEP) for a range of needs. More than half of my students are bilingual, and English is not their primary language.

My Project

This project was written to help me get some more graphic novels into my students hands. This year, this particular group of students has a very strong love for graphic novels and "Did You Know Books." I have purchased lots of books already, but it's only November and any help is greatly appreciated. We are also asking for another box of snacks as this really keeps their bellies full.

Some new classroom posters and flags will ensure that all students feel safe and well represented in our classroom!

This is so important to me to make sure students know that they are loved and cared for!

We can't wait for this project to be funded and we are extremely lucky that there are so many amazing donors that choose to help out so many classrooms.
