This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school students are not your typical readers that pick up a book and read for pleasure. They need access to books to help them increase their reading level and improve their critical reading skills. An essential part of their success as readers is finding books that are of high interest and at their level. What better way to foster that love for reading than having book cases filled with books. We have the books. We need bookcases for easier access.
My Project
With these low bookcases, I will be able to organize the classroom with a defined library, and have space for our literature circle books and my classroom library! My students will see the wonderful books we have in our room, and they will be able to easily choose a book of their choice. Instead of searching through bins to find a book, they will have easy access to all our class library books. Having a space to display books will encourage them to select books they might never even consider reading. I will also be able to purchase more books to update our classroom library and foster that love of reading that is so important.
