My Project

In my first grade classroom, just before Mindfulness activities, we read and talk about our thoughts and emotions. We need to teach children how to deal with various emotions, good and bad. We also have discussions after reading books about how to act socially in our school and classroom. The books I am requesting will help me begin discussions by an out loud reading and then we can engage in lively conversations about the book and relate ideas to how students feel and act in school or in the community.

Students love to engage in discussions after reading new books.

The book sets about emotions and feelings that I am requesting, will help me start meaningful conversations about social emotional issues. Also, the non fiction books from National Geographic, will help students understand how the world works. It is imperative to have these book sets in the classroom to allow students to use and read them, so they can share their thoughts and ideas. This will help my students better understand themselves and others.
