My students need fiction and non-fiction books in order to motivate them and develop a love of reading.

My Students
Every day I wake up, go to school, and receive thirty of the most wonderful hugs I have ever known. All of my students come from lower-income families but come to school ready to learn, love, and share.
My students are eager learners, and they love school.
They come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and usually don't have the school supplies that they need to be successful. We are located in a caring community that helps meet our students' basic needs. However, the small classroom, combined with the fact that our class sizes are very large, makes it hard to find room to work at our tables and stay organized. I am also the inclusion classroom and have many students who have autism.
My Project
We need a variety of books that are leveled to meet the different needs of all students. Leveled books allows my students to pick just right books for them - books that are not too hard and not too easy. These books will help me provide high quality texts to be used in these groups. The books make all the difference in being able to apply the skills they are working hard to learn. New books will also increase student excitement and engagement in these groups.
Having books that the students feel successful will boost their confidence and will make them WANT to read, which will give them more and more practice.
By supporting this project, you validate the need for young readers to have a variety of books to read at their level and provide access for families to support their children with reading at home.
