My Project
Help me convert my students into book lovers! Most of my students are reading below their grade level or struggle to want to read. I have created started building a reading nook in my classroom that is rewarded to my students and I want to fill it with books to help all the different level of readers I have.
"Research shows that students in classrooms with high-quality classroom libraries read 50 percent more than students who do not have access to a library in the classroom." (Catapano)
I want to create a class library with comfy seats and books that they can be excited about! I want the books in my library to give them a window into a world outside of their own that can teach them things such as friendship, kindness, problem resolution, and inspiration from stories about people have accomplished great things! I want them to see that if they set their mind to something, they can achieve it.
Dr. Seuss books have been proven through research to improve the readers phonological awareness. (Fu) Many of my low level readers struggle with looking at words they don't know, breaking them up, and blending them. This is why I want to be sure to have books that will help them with that struggle.
Reading is the one of the most crucial aspects to success not only in education, but also throughout life! I hope I can give my students the key to their own success by knowing how to read well.
