This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you want adventure? Do you want to travel? Do you want to enrich your knowledge of the world around you? You can get it in one small package - a book. What a delight it was to see my students pick a book or two during the book fair in our school. They were so thrilled and cannot seem to wait ‘til they would sit down and begin to read them.

My students enjoy the company of books. They love to take some home from our classroom library. They enjoy sharing the knowledge that they learn from their readings. Books are a wonderful source of entertainment; they help exercise the brain, improve focus, and a way to gain valuable knowledge.

My Project

Fiction books are all in abundance in our school and even in my own mini library. But, what about the likes of nonfiction books? I would like my students to be able to foster critical thinking and information gathering skills. These type of books would also support study-related investigations.

I envisioned that my students’ interest will be captured with the real world around them through reading nonfiction books.

These books will definitely connect with our Life Science and Earth Science lessons. Having nonfiction books around them would positively impact their world connections, help build their vocabulary and language skills as well as acquire a better understanding of the world they live in.
