My Project

Dear Friends,

Right now, my 6th-grade classroom has a science library stuck in the past—our books are decades old, missing key discoveries, and don’t reflect the exciting world of science today.

Many of my students already struggle with reading engagement, and outdated materials make it even harder to capture their curiosity.

I dream of transforming our shelves with new, high-interest science books—think gripping nonfiction on space exploration, climate change, amazing animals, and cutting-edge tech. Books like The Science of Breakable Things, National Geographic’s Science Encyclopedia, and Women in Science would not only spark a love of reading but also pull kids away from screens and into the real-world wonder of science.

Outdated books lead to disengaged readers, and my students deserve resources that reflect the world they live in today. Science literacy is critical, and having access to up-to-date books will help students better understand modern issues such as artificial intelligence, genetics, and renewable energy. Many children default to screens like YouTube or video games, but physical books offer an opportunity for focus, imagination, and deeper learning.

Your donation will help fill our shelves with vibrant, diverse, and current science books that make learning exciting and irresistible. Every donation of $20 to $30 can provide a brand-new book that will inspire future scientists, doctors, and engineers. These books will also boost literacy skills through engaging, high-interest topics. In addition, your support will help create a cozy reading corner where students can choose to explore and discover the joy of reading.
