This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our STEAM magnet middle school is located in the heart of Los Angeles. Our students come from various backgrounds including homelessness, foster families, single-parent homes and more, BUT they are an amazing group of students. They are eager to learn and have a very open mind to new ideas. They amaze me with what they can do and the way they strive to achieve more.
My Project
The students in my class are learning to read. They have shown a lot of interest in books ever since we started various reading projects. I have a lot of books in my classroom. There are several Big Books that are very resourceful for the students but they are put in a pile which prevents the students from seeing what is available. A display rack will help me put the books as such that students can look at the topics and pick books that are available. These will make resources now in a pile be visible to my students.
