Book Clubs for First Graders!

My students need six copies of each of their favorite titles: Junie B, Henry and Mudge, Little Bill, Magic Treehouse, Cam Jansen, and A to Z Mysteries.

My Students

Our First Graders love to read and talk about books, but our classroom library doesn't have more than two copies of any book. We can't have book clubs without books!

I teach First Grade at a charter school in a very low income district in New York.

My students are very bright and love to read. They especially love series books, like Junie B, Henry and Mudge, Magic Treehouse, and Cam Jansen. They work so hard and they deserve every advantage we can give them.

My Project

With multiple copies of the same books, we will be able to have book clubs in our classroom! Reading clubs will enable these First Graders to read together and have meaningful discussions about their books. Students will be even more excited about these book clubs with title selections from series that they already know and love.

One of the most important parts of literacy is being able to talk about what we've read.

Book clubs are an excellent way for students to share connections and build understanding. Please help us provide this opportunity for our students!
