This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am excited to begin my first year as a school librarian at a school where I will be motivating 455 students to read to succeed! "The more that you read, the more places you'll go! The more places you go, the more you will know!" ~ Dr. Seuss.

The students at my school range in ages from Kindergarten to 5th grade and are very diverse.

The students that come to my library every day have many different backgrounds. Some of the students speak two or more languages, some are academically gifted, and others are musically and artistically gifted. The students coming to my library are very enthusiastic and proficient readers. They are all eager to read and excited to check out many, many books.

My Project

I am requesting five rolling carts, or "book buggies", for classes to easily return books to the library before their scheduled checkout time. With the use of the "book buggies", students will be able to send only one student with all the return books at one time. This will be beneficial in several ways. The use of the carts will make the returning of books much faster, ensuring that the students do not miss learning time from the classroom. This will also clear up time in the library for me to teach the students a library skill, or co-teach with the classroom teacher a reading or inquiry skill. Classes will also be able to use the "book buggies" when conducting research by easily rolling a stack of books needed to the classroom.

Your generous donation will provide "book buggies" for 455 amazing students, who are eager to read and learn.

These carts will enable the school day and library time to be more effective for student learning.
