This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has recently transformed from an elementary school to a K-8! I have had the pleasure of redesigning the physical environment of our media center to fit the evolving needs of our growing student population and staff. Next up: elevating the user experience and revitalizing the physical space through dynamic shelving! This project will be used in areas frequented by our students in grades 3 through 8.

Our students love visiting our school library for book check-out and more - their enthusiasm is contagious!

The requested supplies in this project will help to put the finishing touches on the new library design and engage our readers like never before. The acrylic easels will be used to display a variety of books by front-facing them. This display technique increases visibility of resources, attracts attention, and encourages exploration. The bins will be used to group popular books and series in a fun and creative way, while keeping them organized. I will use the laminator to create eye-catching and colorful signs for each organization bin. The lamination will make signage durable and long-lasting. Dynamic shelving organization has the potential to increase circulation at all reading levels, improve student self confidence in self-selecting books, offer greater diversity in reading choices, and create a more inclusive space that reflects student voice and interest.

Research and feedback indicate that more interactive, curated, and flexible displays significantly improve students' ability to self-select books, leading to increased reading for pleasure and academic success. By investing in dynamic shelving supplies, our school library will be more engaging, student-centered, and accessible. Thank you so much for your consideration!
