My Students

"The more you read, the more you know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss. Reading plays a huge role in a child's education and I want my students to be excited about reading!

I have not met my students yet, but I am thrilled to be teaching them this upcoming year!

I will be teaching first grade at a Title 1 school. Title 1 schools typically house students that come from low-income families and most of these students are on free and reduced price lunch. They often do not have the same advantages that many students have. Despite the disadvantages, I can only imagine the lively and energetic group of students that will be mine!

My Project

With each student having their own book bin, they will be able to move around the room during independent reading time and keep their books in one place. The book bins will also provide a place for their reading tools to be readily available when needed.

The book bins will give my students a sense of ownership because they each get to have their own bin.

They will also be taught how to correctly use and take care of the bin. They will essentially become responsible for it. Another plus is these bins will continue to be used for years to come!
