This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Books! Books! Books! Our class needs more books in Spanish to fill the needs of our student population. We recently had a parent event and there was a lack of good quality Spanish books for parents to read to their children in their native language.

My students all come from Spanish speaking homes.

Most of my students do not own books because of poverty and language. Our school has a 95% free-and-reduced lunch rate which means that most students cannot afford the lunch. Our goal is to have our parents feel comfortable coming to our school and reading with their children. To do that, we need quality books in Spanish.

My Project

These high quality Spanish books will help our students tremendously as they begin to read in Spanish. They will see that their class library has an abundance of books that they will enjoy reading. The collection of books that I am ordering includes quality books for boys and girls. We have non-fiction books like airplanes, trucks, and dogs for the boys who enjoy that. As well as fiction books about dragons and dinosaurs. For girls, I have included fairy tales and animal stories that they love.

Please donate to this project because literacy is so important.

My students will be inspired to read when they see the amazing books this collection has. They will enjoy reading these books again and again after I read them. Parents will feel supported when they come to school events. My students will be inspired to learn and be life-long readers which is the goal of education.
