This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a vibrant set of students who have a passion for learning. There are so many characters in my classroom; I'm always excited to see where our days of learning take us.

No matter the time or place, I can always count on my students' love of art, reading, and science.

Our school is in the heart of Boyle Heights, just down the street from downtown Los Angeles. Many of our families struggle to provide their students with opportunities and resources that are necessary for them to become collaborators, communicators, and critical and creative thinkers. In our classroom, we try to bridge this gap and give them all the tools necessary for them to be the 21st-century thinkers that we need today and for years to come.

My Project

Having access to books is so important for students. With this project my students will have access to new books in our classroom library. This will help them improve their reading skills, critical thinking skills, language skills and will also give my students a chance to further develop their love of reading.

Reading opens up so many new worlds and possibilities for students, these books will do just that!

So many of my students enjoy sitting in our reading nook and just reading independently. Many times they ask "can we read for a few more minutes?" This project will give my students so many more book options to choose from to help them improve their reading and to read about topics they are interested in.
