This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a fourth grade teacher in an inner city school in the South Bronx in NYC. All we are given are the basic supplies for the children to read and write. I am requesting a book binding machine so that my students will be more motivated to write their own stories and publish them into professional looking books.
For example, after my students read non-fiction books about animals they will create their own non-fiction books about an animal. I am requesting a book binding machine so that I can put these books together so that they look professional and will be sturdy when placed in the class library for others to read. I am also requesting a laminator so that my students' work can be preserved when hung around the room. They can also laminate their work before putting it in a book. These books will become part of the class library so that other children can read their classmates' work.
