Book Binding for Bulldog Writers!

My students need a document sorter, 2 reams of cardstock, 2 reams of Astrobrights paper, book binding machine and 2 boxes of spines to create their own books!

My Students

My kindergarten students are full of many thoughts and ideas. They have so many stories to tell. By the end of the year, they are independently putting their thoughts to paper and creating their own books!

Our classroom is a fun, exciting and safe place to learn.

It is full of laughter, risk taking and room to make mistakes. Some students are just learning English and some are already reading simple books. They are an energetic group that loves to create! At the beginning of the year my students need a lot of support. Many do not have the correct pencil grasp, know how to form letters or know the parts of the book. We spend a lot of time learning our letters, sounds and correct letter formation to set the foundation for creating lots of books by the end of the school year. The thought of creating their own book is scary but they are always so excited to begin!

My Project

Throughout the year, we create many books. At the beginning of the year we write about ourselves, create alphabet books and number books. By the end of the year, they are writing non fiction texts on polar animals, seasons, insects and so much more. Our classroom is filled with many student created books! This project will provide us with the necessary resources to make their student created books last. The paper will allow me to provide them with a blank canvas to write and illustrate their book. The letter organizer will keep each child's book organized and in their own spot.The book binding machine and spines will allow my students' books to look professional!

There is nothing worse than a child spending a lot of time creating a book for their pages to rip and the book look worn out.This project will allow my students/ books to last a lifetime!
