Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom, we move a lot between the carpet and table time to keep students engaged in learning. I strive daily to have my students be able to be at grade level at the end of the year. I am challenging my students to use different approaches to learning especially using 21st century skills.

Our school and staff pride ourselves on our "Disneyland Theme" and this year "We Won't Stop Believing" in our students.

My students come and leave school very happy and look forward to the next day. My students are all English Language Learners, who are in a Structured English Instructed class. The English language is very difficult for them and they need extra support through the use of visuals and hands on materials. My students also need various extensions to help support their education.

My Project

Each student gets a book basket to hold their books to read for the entire year. This year especially we are focusing on students picking books that are at their interest level and that they can read. We are learning this through our acronyms i-PICK (Purpose, Interest, Comprehend and Know Words) and also EEKK (elbow to elbow, knee to knee). Many of their books are larger and they have a difficult time holding this books in their current book boxes. Therefore, it is time for new baskets that are wider for larger sized books.

My students will have the opportunity to keep their leveled books and book of interest neatly organized.

They can also practice just like we practice on how to take care of books. Well kept with these larger paper sized baskets.
