Book Bags for Kindergarten

Help me give my students new book bags that will help prevent the loss books that we use for independent leveled reading and guided reading groups!

My Students

Hello! My Kindergarten students attend our school in Kyle, South Dakota. Our school is a federally funded tribal contract school in the Pine Ridge Reservation.

As a Kindergarten team we spend a lot of our own money supporting our students with classroom materials.

However, our students still lack access to many resources. We feel strongly about creating a classroom environment that student enjoy being a part of everyday, so we greatly appreciate any support that provides our students with what they need to be successful.

My Project

My Kindergarten students are becoming more and more comfortable reading independently every single day! Starting very soon we will begin building and using our own book bags where my students can pick out their favorite stories from our new collection of library books!

These Lakeshore bags are stronger and more durable than the Ziploc bags we have used in the past.

We are hoping that by giving each student their own bag they will take pride in choosing their favorite books to read, re-read, and share with their friends. Using our book bags will also help to protect our books and prevent the loss of our new library sets so that students can continue to use them in the future!

Included in this project are two soft activity books to use with students who have ocupational and other sensory OT needs.
