This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Are you ready friends?"

This exclamation can be heard during our morning meeting routine as some of the children ask their classmates if they are ready to sing our songs about the days of the week and the months of the year.

This excitement about learning continues throughout the day in our room.

Our students are in a high needs environment and they come to school each day filled with excitement to learn new things! Many of our students come into kindergarten have zero to little letter and number recognition. As kindergarteners in an ICT (integrated co-teaching) setting, which creates an inclusive environment for students with and without disabilities, it is extremely important for each and every child to master letters and numbers in the beginning of the year, in order for them to progress and start off on the right path in their educational careers!

My Project

In our classroom, we need these take-home back packs to be used as book baggies. Every week, our students get to borrow 5-7 new books from our classroom library to read at home.

These books deserve to live in a special place while at home and in school: their book baggie.

Having these take-home backpacks as book baggies provides a durable place for our classroom books to be kept safe. It also creates a sense of pride and responsibility in our students. It is their job to take care of these books that they bring home each night, and make sure that they return safely to school each day.
