My Students
My third-grade classroom is an exciting place for all students to learn and grow as scholars and citizens of a bigger world. They are taught and encouraged to work with others to challenge each other and themselves.
It is a place where differences are celebrated and supported.
As a class community, we understand that children learn in different ways and at different paces. With that understanding in mind, students work together in teams to leverage each students strengths to help each other learn and grow. Some students work best in groups, while others need some space to process information alone before engaging with others. Some students need hard copies of texts while others prefer digital or audio/visual access to those same or differentiated texts to best process and learn from them. The students are highly engaged in their learning and progress due to their input and investment in the process
My Project
Students are often told what to read and when to read it, which can often be a turn-off. These book certificates will allow small and large groups of students to be part of their learning by giving them the opportunity to look through catalogs and read through book descriptions and reviews to select books they believe will be interesting and at an appropriate level for their development.
Students will collaborate with other classmates to select books and set book club goals they will work through together as they read and discuss books with each other.
These certificates will also help students work with me to supplement our library with new books that address their interests, social and emotional learning, and an appreciation of other cultures and time periods.
