My Project
I have jam packed classes full of teenagers who need creative outlets for self-expression and skills for regulating emotions.
Art, ceramics in particular, is an accessible outlet for all students no matter their artistic skill level to channel the difficult things they are facing and explore their emotions and identity.
Most, if not all, of my students have shared with me how working with clay helps them with emotional regulation from things like trauma, mental health, substance abuse, learning disabilities, and/or other environmental stressors. Ceramics forces them to put away their phones and get their hands dirty to create something. The glazing process is a favorite part of working with ceramics and seeing a new load of glazed work is everyone’s highlight of the week!
Glazes are expensive so your support will help replenish our glaze stock with bold and exciting colors to add to their masterpieces.
