My Students
We are a constructivist school, meaning we believe in giving kids first-hand experiences, discussion, questioning, and processing what they learn. Our school believes strongly that student's passions should be pursued. We still offer a variety of electives at our school such as music, PE, art, coding, and dance because we are committed to educating the whole child, not just the academic child. We also spend dedicated time teaching and reteaching social-emotional skills and training, once again, educating the whole child.
Our kids are stunning, they are artistic, critical thinkers who question the world around them.
Our students know themselves and accept each other while celebrating the uniqueness in all of us. Students refer to our school as "The Rainbow, Unicorn, Bubble".
My Project
We are a diverse school with the desire to meet all of our student's needs. The books that we are requesting will guide our teachers in learning more about cutting-edge neuroscience research that will allow our staff to implement brain-compatible culturally responsive instruction.
Our teachers will learn to work with all students helping them to become independent learners, practicing self-reflection and most of all be a part of a community that is culturally responsive.
This work is essential as our classrooms become more and more diverse. Our goal is to do the work to examine the relationship between culture and cognition. We will use this book as a study guide in our professional learning communities.
