Help me give my students biographies of strong women to inspire them to greatness.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Welcome to our school! We are a Title I elementary school in a low-income urban neighborhood, educating students from Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Eighty-six percent of our students receive free or reduced rate lunch, and 100% receive free breakfast daily.
Our children may not have much, but they are kind, inquisitive, and love to learn.
The school is the heart of the community, and our library is the heart of the school. As the librarian, I do my best to fill my students' lives with quality books, the joy of reading, and tools for learning.
My Project
Biographies are a popular section in our library. Students love to read about how ordinary people can do extraordinary things. Our aging collection, however, is a bit light on female representation.
These biographies of successful women include supreme court justices, athletes, actresses, activists, and (yes) a princess.
Both girls and boys will enjoy learning about how these well-known women found their niche and are making a difference in the world.
Our students will love to read these biographies about people they hear about on the news, on the radio, on TV, and on social media. Even reluctant readers are often willing to read a book about someone they admire. For one student, this might be the book that makes them a life-long reader!
