Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are motivated and come to school everyday to learn. Although many live in low income homes and often have trouble gathering supplies for school, they love to learn. They look forward to each school day and are extremely motivated. These students motivate me and I just want them to get the best.
Our school is a Title 1 urban school in NYC.
Over 80% of the students in our school receive free or reduced lunches. Due to major budget cuts in NY, schools are getting less and less. We are losing amazing teachers and we lack many supplies. I am hoping that with your help I can give these students the materials they need to strive and succeed.
My Project
Think back to your days back in the classroom. Chalkboards were the only things used. Our class room still has a chalkboard, but due to allergies and asthma, we are no longer permitted to use them. The only thing we can write on and work with the students on is a dry erase easel that is only 2 ft. wide. These poor children either have to gather tightly around or students that can't see are forced to sit on the floor.
These students deserve the right to sit comfortably at their seats and work properly.
By having a larger dry-erase board, they could share in their learning and work side by side. The larger board will enable them to better see and focus. There will be a huge impact in their learning! I need your support to make this happen!
