This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students need interaction away from a computer/phone screen. I would like to conduct a family math night, so families can play board games together and have a chance to win a board game to take home. Most importantly, they have fun while doing math!

I want my students and families to be able to spend time together and students develop math skills at the same time.

Most of my students have never played a board game and do not have skills of knowing dice patterns and adding numbers together while learning the combinations of numbers. They struggle daily with adding under 10. These board games, along with family math night, will give my students opportunities to interact with their families and learn some basic math skills to be successful. This will also allow families to have games to play at home to build family relationships.
