My Project
I was inspired to write a game project because it fostered collaboration and communication between students in a positive fun way. I thought of things my family loves to do together, and since I was little we loved playing games. We spent quality time together and looked forward to these weekly (sometimes daily) game days.
Playing games brings people together, as well as, helps develop social, collaborative, critical thinking and problem solving skills that are used throughout life.
Through game play my students can have authentic, hands-on experiences using concrete materials. These games would be wonderful for centers as well as a way to engage them in the learning process. The games will develop conversations, social skills, and the use of language, which is a benefit especially for my ESL students. Games like Clue, Guess Who, Word Play and Chess build strategy and literacy skills. Games like Suspend, Proof, and Triominos build STEM and problem solving skills. Students get to have fun while playing, and learning should be FUN! Students will be working together to build important skills necessary to carry them into the future.
