My Project
Board games can reduce anxiety, teach empathy, increase brain function, encourage healthy relationships, build math and literacy skills, increase self-awareness, and provide a safe place to practice decision making skills: all areas where students would like more support, according to a recent school climate and culture survey. And every day, more and more students are realizing these benefits as they spend time in the library sitting together playing games from our games library. As our culture of gaming grows, students are requesting new games and new genres to continue to grow!
The benefits of playing board games support social, emotional, and academic learning and this project will provide a wider range of opportunities to meet the needs of our highly diverse community of learners.
Additionally, many of our students are learning how to break dependence on mobile devices; many feel a lack of connection with peers; many are looking for positive adult role-models; and many are looking for new and non-traditional ways to build academic skills. A robust tabletop games library will facilitate and support student success in these areas and more!
This selection of games is curated from student and family suggestions and it provides a diverse range of games to meet the diverse cultures of our students.
