My Project

This project is designed to make math meaningful and fun. We will use literature and games to build math literacy and connect concepts to real-life scenarios. The requested books—Emmy Noether: The Most Important Mathematician You've Never Heard Of, If You Were a Quadrilateral, Maryam’s Magic: The Story of Mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani, and The Brilliant Calculator: How Mathematician Edith Clarke Helped Electrify America—will introduce students to inspiring stories of diverse mathematicians, helping them connect real-world relevance to mathematical concepts. These read-alouds encourage curiosity, representation, and a deeper understanding of math as a human endeavor.

Board games that teach math concepts make learning hands-on, interactive, and collaborative, reinforcing key math skills like fractions, geometry, and problem-solving in a fun and memorable way.

The inclusion of a social studies board game about elections will integrate civics education, encouraging students to understand their role in the democratic process while developing strategic thinking.

Bubble gum rewards provide a sensory break and positive reinforcement, supporting students’ social-emotional learning (SEL). Chewing gum has been linked to improved focus and reduced stress, helping create a relaxed environment for exploration and growth.
