Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every time the children enter the school library, I want them to be excited to learn about all the new people, places, lessons, and journeys they will be able to encounter during their library time!
Our school is home to almost 600 eager learners in grades Pre-K through 5th grade.
Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Some of our families face a daily struggle just to provide for their families' basic needs. I am very excited to have the opportunity to bring many positive library experiences to our school.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of the Texas Bluebonnet books for 2021-2022 school year. These Bluebonnet books will be used for our Bluebonnet Book Club for forth and fifth graders.
The students will be reading the Bluebonnet books such as The Incredibly Dead Pets of Rex Dexter and Someplace to Call Home then discuss each book during book club.
Later in the year, our Bluebonnet Book Club will be able to compete in our districts Battle of the Books competition. When the year is over, the students will be able to keep one of the Bluebonnet books.
