We need Blooms Digital Taxonomy in the classroom. I Pads are a tool for students to create and show understanding in all subject areas. We can evaluate and analyze books, story problems, science experiments, and much more. Students can even apply their knowledge using apps like Explain Everything.
Our school is in a fabulous community in a college town in Virginia.
In our classroom you will always find a diverse group of students. There are students in our classroom that have a wide range of needs. Some are below level, on level and above level in reading and in math. Having a wide range of understanding of the content makes it more difficult to reach each group, for each subject taught, on their level and with their learning style. I Pads are a great tool to help me as the teacher teach multiple groups at a time. With the apps Show Me and Nearpod (just to name a couple) I can record myself and create presentations to re-teach and to pre-teach students who need a little extra when I am unavailable during a guided reading or math group.
My Project
As I stated above these iPads will be used in the classroom to reinforce content or to pre-teach students who need a little extra when I am with another group of students. These tools will also be used for students to create and show what they know. Apps such a Puppet Pals, Skitch, Haiku Deck, and i Movie allow students to apply, explain, and remember what they learned. This is a great way to evaluate if the students are learning the material taught and a great way for students to teach one another. In our classroom this year we have already created presentations on the Earth's Cycles, animal cycles and have also been creative when learning about each other by making videos and presentations about one another.
I Pads are a fantastic tool to add to my tool belt as a teacher.
This devise allows me to teach more students at once. It allows for students to create and show their knowledge in language arts, math, science and social studies. Students can analyze math problems by using Popplet to diagram or summarize a book using Comic Life. Most importantly, they add FUN to what they are learning. I have never heard a student complain about getting on the i Pad and best of all they are learning!
