My Project

Hello, my name is Payton Boone and I am a second grade teacher at Carr Elementary School; a Title 1 school. I chose a Title I school to work at, as I was once the same underprivileged child who came to school; relying on education to erase the label I once had. I have created this list in the hopes a generous individual would like to be an asset in the education of my students. My goal for this project is for students to feel as if they have a learning environment that is set up for their personal success, rather than the paycheck of their teacher. Within this list, I have included a variety of resources that will be for the sole benefit of the students as a whole, and each child's individual needs. I love them so much.

Books: The books listed were handpicked, as I saw a particular student in each piece of literature.

Whether a student needs linguistic or physical representation; being able to see one's self within art is a driving point to a child's growth in confidence and love of reading. In my classroom, I am many student's who are English Language Learners and come from a variety of families. Often, these student's feel as if they must hide their identity; however, in my room, we encourage individuality and the chance to learn more about each of our peers.

Carts: Many of my students have needs in which a system must be in place, where there are minimal distractions. Having these carts for each table group would allow my students the opportunity to be successful in having a simple routine of having the necessary materials close by. This will cut down on classroom interruptions and minimize the stressful feeling of being unprepared.
