This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Life Lab Garden Classroom at our school is an integral space in the everyday life of our students! With dozens of students visiting each day during class times, recess, lunch, and during the after-school program, there is constantly exploring, creating, and learning happening in our space.

Our students deserve to have a garden classroom with updated materials that allow them to continue expanding their knowledge of local produce and biodiversity - our wish list items are aimed at bringing students together within the garden space, updating outdated supplies, and providing new creative experiences for our students using produce that we grow here.

We're looking to rebuild our pond to invite aquatic biodiversity, create art that will be sold at our campus farmer's markets, and give students more agency in the labeling and designing of our garden beds.

The benches will be placed in our brand new Imagination Garden that we built this winter for our TK and Kindergarten students - a garden that is also in need of plant labels and irrigation tubing! Items like the plant labels and pruning shears will allow students to have more guided control over how our garden looks.
