My Forensic Science class is an eager and enthusiastic group of students interested in furthering their science knowledge beyond our core subjects. They are taking this class because they have an interest in criminal justice, forensics, medicine, and other science-based careers. They enjoy problem solving, experimenting, and all forms of hands-on learning. They get excited for crime scene scenarios and trying to solve the case. They appreciate the real world applications of what they are learning and make connections to life outside of the classroom. They follow the news and relate current events to topics in our class.
Students will have the opportunity to become crime scene technicians as they analyze simulated blood samples to determine blood types, blood type inheritance, and blood cell counts.
Students will experience techniques used in actual science labs and practice skills used in both college and career science labs. Students will work in teams to investigate mock cases using both qualitative and quantitative analysis skills. They will learn how effective communication and teamwork are essential in the success of their detective and lab teams. These skills and traits will help prepare them for college and their careers.
