My Students

My students are a remarkable group of kids. I have never encountered a group of students that are so focused on what they need to do to be successful. They attend an urban public school in Northeast Ohio.

As their teacher, I see the daily struggles many of them are forced to go through, which are too common in high-poverty communities.

But these scholars amaze me each day when they are focused on what they are learning, when they are engaged in the lessons, and when they are excited about what they will learn about next. Many of my scholars do not have personal computers or an internet connection at home. This makes their time at school even more crucial to their success in today's technology driven world.

My Project

Blogging is an incredible tool that encourages students to reflect on their learning and showcase their accomplishments. By creating online blogs, students will be motivated to reflect on their learning and publish their creations. Students will also be able to respond to their peers blog, creating a platform for the development of digital citizenship and giving students an authentic audience. Creating and maintaining a blog brings meaningful reflection and technology integration into the classroom.

I hope to utilize these three Lenovo Chromebooks in the classroom to create a Blogging Station where my students can blog about their learning and respond daily to their peers blogs.

In addition to improving their writing skills and digital literacy, Blogging also encourages a home-school connections where parents will also be able to respond to students blog. Students will be able to review past blog entries and see first hand how much they have improved through the course of the school year. Please help my students share their voice using 21st century skills by donating to this project.
