My Students
My students are the youngest learners in a 3-K to fifth grade school in Brooklyn. About 90% of the students in our school receive free lunch.
My students will be two and three years old; such precious ages.
I haven't met them yet, but I'm so excited to get to know them and help them have a nurturing, loving, and fun first school experience!
My Project
We are set to start school in September with a blended learning model, which includes both learning at home and school. The children will spend two days a week at school and the other days will be spent learning at home. Connections between school and home will become more important than ever. Since play is the vehicle for learning in my preschool classroom, giving each student their own set of blocks will allow them to continue their play and learning at home.
Building blocks are so beneficial for early learning as they teach so many concepts and skills, including geometry, spatial awareness, and problem solving, all while the children are having so much fun!
Blocks also encourage children to use their imaginations as they create and construct rocket ships, houses, cars, castles, and more. It is amazing to see what they come up with!
Another benefit of blocks is that parents can participate in the learning process with their children, as they build together, and discuss what they are creating. Playing with children can strengthen bonds between adults and children. These bonds are extra important during these challenging times.
Your kind donations will give the children the materials to continue their learning at home and build strong connections between home and school and between parents and children.
