Blocks Build a Child's Brain - Be a Brain Builder!
My students need new building blocks since our old blocks are worn and full of splinters.

My Students
"OUCH!" is what you hear coming out of my block center when tiny fingers are being splintered by our old, worn blocks. Not only are our blocks old, we don't even have a full set of blocks. As new Kindergarten classes have opened due to registration growth, we've had to share our blocks.
My urban Kindergarten class is a racially mixed group, inclusive of typically functioning, special needs and English language learning students.
We are a Title 1 school with 100% of our students receiving free lunch. We are a barrier free school, allowing physically challenged students to be equals in our loving school community.
My Project
Blocks provide children the opportunity and encouragement to develop life long skills. This includes, but is not limited to, social, emotional, physical and cognitive skill development. Blocks motivate creative thinking and language development as children must communicate their ideas and plans with one another. Blocks are a useful tool for students to demonstrate their knowledge of the world around them. New blocks in our classroom will allow my students to safely and collaboratively create carefully planned out structures.
While playing with blocks, children learn vital problem solving skills, symbolic thinking and math concepts that last a life time.
Help bring the joy and importance of block play to our classroom. IT'S UP TO YOU TO BUILD A BRAIN!
