My Project
I am an educator returning to the first-grade classroom after several years of teaching secondary English. While I have enjoyed teaching older students, I truly miss the wonder and curiosity that are so abundant at the elementary level. First graders are full of excitement, and I can't wait to nurture that sense of discovery and creativity once again.
Unfortunately, when I entered secondary education, I left behind all of my first grade teaching materials for the next teacher which leaves me with the task of replenishing my centers and extra teaching materials.
My goal is to recreate an environment where students can explore, build, and learn through hands-on activities and play, fostering a deep understanding of STEM concepts.
With this project, I aim to provide my students with materials like magnet tiles, wooden blocks, Brain Flakes, and more to support their growth in science, technology, engineering, and math. These resources will encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity as students engage in activities that involve building, designing, and experimenting. The hands-on approach will allow them to see the connections between their ideas and the real world, all while having fun and building teamwork skills.
By using these materials, I hope to create a classroom where students' imaginations can soar, and their curiosity is constantly nurtured. This project will give them the tools they need to explore STEM concepts, develop a growth mindset, and build the confidence to tackle new challenges. I am eager to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers through engaging and authentic learning experiences.
