Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first grade teacher with 15 curious and hard-working students who come in each morning with smiles on their faces, eager to learn. I love their willingness to try new things and learn from their mistakes. They love hands-on activities that make them think outside of the box. My hope for my class is to give them resources and unique experiences to help them grow into good students and good people. Given this is only my third year teaching, my classroom is lacking many resources and games that I need to support my students.

My Project

My classroom is a NEST classroom which is a program that supports students with autism. One thing autistic students can struggle with is sensory overload. At times the volume of the class or surrounding classrooms can be overwhelming and make it hard for students to concentrate. These noise canceling headphones are an easy fix to help my students regulate and focus. Additionally, the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will help me to address my students needs with a variety of supplemental activities and materials that I can use both in the classroom and virtually. These items will help me better meet the needs of my students this year.
