This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are three years old and this is their first experience in school. They are among the first three year olds to attend 3K in the NYC school district. They come from a low income/high poverty neighborhood in the South Bronx, and have not been afforded the opportunities that children in more well-to-do neighborhoods are given.

It's my goal to provide a classroom for my students that is welcoming, offers opportunities for exploration, and prepares them for future academic success.

My Project

My three year old students love to play in the block center. We have also been exploring simple machines. My students are fascinated by building ramps and exploring how fast or slow they can make a toy car roll down the ramp. These supplemental supplies for our block center will increase the benefits and enjoyment my students receive from experimenting in this center.

Building with blocks strengthens motor skills and hand-eye coordination, encourages creativity, strengthens language development, and promotes positive social skills.

These simple machines, play STEM items and a tub of cars and trucks will provide opportunities for my students to expand their exploration of simple machines in our block center.
