Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into the classroom every day ready to learn and excited for what is in store for the day. Do you remember the excitement of first grade? The world of learning explodes in first grade, and it is my job to create a solid foundation for my students during this difficult time.
I teach in a Title I school in Brooklyn, where the majority of the students are English language learners.
Students are excited to learn and discover the world around them. My goal THIS year is to provide a caring, nurturing and safe classroom for my students to feel comfortable and happy while engaging them in learning.
My Project
This year students will engage in school in a blended learning model. Blended learning means that students will have a combination of in school and remote learning days.
On the in school days, students will be following social distancing guidelines and they will work independently.
During the course of the day, students will need a variety of materials to use for classwork. Traditionally, students would share pens, crayons and markers for school work, as well has materials for center time. With this project, I would like to provide students with their own set of materials to use during the school day. The materials in this project will be stored in a pencil case labeled with students names for independent use. These materials will provide students with all the resources they need during the days they are in school while still maintaining social distance.
