Blended Learning in Señor S's Spanish Classroom

My students need headphones in order to engage in the blended learning experience in my Spanish classroom. They will use the headphones to listen to videos that will accompany the learning modules.

My Students

Being at a public charter school that serves students students in 6th-8th grade, my students come from a variety of different backgrounds, many of which from low-income households. In order to meet the diverse needs of my 7th and 8th grade students, I am looking to transition my classes into a blended learning model.

In case you may be unfamiliar with the term blended learning, it refers to combining traditional classroom teaching methods and the utilization of online digital media.

This method not only allows for more student engagement, but it also gives students the opportunity to access the online digital media at school and at home. Additionally, students are able to work their way through modules and activities at their own pace so that they can work towards mastery.

My Project

These headphones will allow my students to engage in blended learning through learning modules in which they watch a short video, take notes, and complete practice activities. In addition, they will be able to listen to authentic Spanish-language sources and complete listening and other interactive activities in the classroom.

Because my students will be able to work individually on the learning modules, they will be able to go at their own pace and access sources and activities multiple times to get more practice.

This, in turn, will allow them to work towards mastery and build their Spanish fluency in a more engaging manner.
