My Students

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - A. Clarke We have awesome technology available in our classroom, and yet, adding a few supplies would let us open up a much bigger world available at their fingertips. This would allow even more learning magic to take place.

My students come from varied backgrounds.

Unfortunately, some do not even have access to computers or internet at home. Therefore, the classroom is where we try to introduce them to all that technology can provide in the way of learning. Some of my students learn best with visuals, some require auditory instruction, and of course, some are kinesthetic learners. As we know, all students do not fit "in the same box," nor should they. Better tools allow for better long term knowledge.

My Project

As learning occurs best when utilizing multiple modalities, these tools would allow me to capitalize on that. For my auditory learners, the headphones would allow them to add sound to the lessons we do on computers while not disturbing others. For my visual learners, the document camera would allow me to project any page we may be studying so they can see the writing themselves.

This project would aid my students by allowing them to see and hear lessons that currently are not available.

It crosses the learning spectrum and opens up a great big world, while also allowing us to cut down on things that are not as environmentally friendly (such as 20 copies of a page vs. just projecting it on my screen). It would also allow my students to become more engaged in learning during whole class instruction time and see what needs done.
