My Students
My students are ready to Blast off with Reading. This project will provide an assortment of high interest picture and chapter books. Many of the student's favorite books have been chosen such as the Froggy series and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
My students are quite interested in reading.
They often take books to recess to read in the school reading garden. Unfortunately the school does not have individual classroom libraries available. With budget cuts our classroom books come from the state reading series and books I have collected. The children are always excited even when I bring just one new book to the classroom. They would be thrilled and motivated to read more with a brand new library!
My Project
The school day is filled with state requirements and pressure to increase achievement. In addition families need to work so many students stay in after school care. A new library will allow children to take books home to read during after school hours! This will give them a positive activity they can share with family members. In addition the children will increase their reading comprehension and fluency in a fun way.
I myself enjoy selecting a new book to read.
I want to share this enthusiasm for literature with my students. Many children have concerns outside of school and reading can serve as a way to blast off to other worlds! This project will allow all students to develop a joy for reading and see it as a positive activity.
