"Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable.... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals." ~Martin Luther King, Jr
My school is a challenging campus as we draw from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnically diverse groups.
On my campus there are a large number of students who will be first-time college bound students -- some of them first time, high school graduates in their families! What a tribute to their families! My students have the drive to learn, to achieve, and to succeed enough to get them into college. All they need to succeed is dedication along with a guide to help them learn how to study, how to be proud of their work and have confidence in themselves!
My Project
I am requesting materials that will teach my students organizational skills needed to be successful during the upcoming school year. My students need the necessary binders and dividers to be organized with their school work. Many times students are unsure of where to put the important papers that they receive in class so they just stuff them into the dark endless hole called a backpack. Once this happens it will never be found again! The binders and dividers will give the students a section of their notebook for each class where they will be able to put all the important papers that they receive. In addition, I will be doing mini-lessons on organization tips and checking binders weekly to ensure that students are following through with the binders. Additionly, my students need spiral notebooks for interactive notebooks that are required in many of their classes.
Organization is the key to success in AVID!
Many of my AVID students come from homes that have a difficult time providing supplies for their students. I want to provide a stress-free environment for my students to learn. This project will allow students the opportunity to have supplies throughout the entire school year.
