My students need 17 Robotics Kits to increase their tech skills and enhance their physical science knowledge.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. M.'s classroom raised $397

Blaine Brains blaze a new trail of technology and robots.
I teach 6-8 grades in math and science. The Blaine Tech Squad are the mentally gifted students, grades 6-8 that will be having fun learning about robots and how physical science can be an exciting learning experience. Our school is a struggling school at this time as we are trying to overcome low test scores on the recent state test. We have a number of intervention to support our large population of below basic students. However, the small group of above average learners seem to get lost in the crowd. Mainly due to the large efforts centered around the majority population in need of interventions.
These materials would be used to give these 25 students some fun challenges and promote science learning. These students are all from the same economic backgrounds and live in the same urban inner city community.
Most of the students have been involved with district wide Academic Leagues, Math Challenges, and Reading Olympics. But these take place only once or twice during the year. I would like to give these students the opportunity to work together throughout the school year on various science-tech projects.
The robot will be a great way to introduce science concepts in physics as well as higher level thinking skills. My hope is that these students will bond together to work as teams creating robots and having their own competitions. They also may develop the interest in robotic competitions, where traditionally this school never was asked to compete.
The gifted program at our school is struggling along due to lack of funding, staffing issues and low priority. Most of the school's effort is centered around interventions for the struggling students and the overwhelming behavior issues.
Once we get the robotics program up and running, thanks to you, the other students will see how much fun learning can be. It may even allow us to bring in other students to the Blaine Tech-Squad!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
