Black Student Union Book Club

My Project

We have some amazing students from all backgrounds and racial identities that participate in our Black Student Union. As a white teacher, I would love to give students the opportunity to do a book club of this book, as it better brings in voices from the Black community. It would help our Black students connect with a character that is grappling with injustices faced by her, while also helping our non-Black students learn empathy and understand some of the racial injustices the Black community has faced.

This book will be a great chance for all of our students to reflect on racial injustices, and other injustices, that exist within our communities.
