This year, I am working with a great bunch of first graders! In my class, I have 30 of the most loving, caring, and brightest scholars! They come to school hungry, looking for a safe environment to be themselves. Our school provides breakfast and lunch to our children.
My students and I have created a safe, engaging, homelike environment for us to learn and grow together.
We will use this time together not only for them to grow as students, soaking in information, reaching their goals and moving on to the next grade, but also for me to grow as a teacher.
That's where DonorsChoose.org comes in. Not everyone can buy school supplies, and our school is fairly new. We don't have all of the materials that well-established schools have.
My Project
Black History Month is huge at our school. We learn about a new person from history every day. We have a culminating Wax Museum Project that every child in our Kindergarten - 8th Grade school participates in! It is by far the coolest project I have ever seen.
We need these books to help the children better understand the people they are learning about.
My children are only 6 years old. They learn best through hands-on experiences, and real-life pictures. These books will help the children relate to the historians they are learning about. These books will help not only the children I have this school year but many school years after.
