Black History Month: Jazz Standards for the Classroom!

My Project

We are cooking something good here at LGA. We have a brand new program and it is growing by leaps and bounds with one hundred beginners each year. In two years we are going to add a jazz band club so students can work on improvisation and playing jazz. This collection of pieces features jazz standards from Herbie Hancock, Ray Charles, Red Garland, and Thelonious Monk. These pieces focus on the swing style, which is the foundation of the jazz big band sound. We hope to be swinging to these charts in no time.
