Black and Brown Girls Need a Safe Space in School!

I need to give me students strategies and resources to align with an after school mentor program.

My Students

We have some awesome and amazing students at our school. Even in the midst of the pandemic, they were still thriving despite the circumstances. They are resilient, but still need support for the challenges that lie ahead returning to school after 1 1/2 years.

My Project

The selected books will allow me to create an after-school program for girls. This will allow them to have a safe space to be able to express themselves and dialogue in a "no judgment" zone. Re-entering the school after nearly one and a half years will almost be like a culture shock.

Social-emotional learning will need to be a top priority in schools and what better way than to create a mentorship for black and brown inner-city girls.

I want the listed books to give me ideas on how I can create the best space for these girls, where they will want to come weekly, and get whatever support is needed.
